Ep 1. Queens

In the season 8 premiere of Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations, host Andrew Zimmern embarks on a culinary journey through Queens, New York. Known as the most diverse borough in New York City, Queens offers a variety of cuisines from around the world.

Andrew starts his adventure at a tiny Egyptian bakery in Astoria, where he samples fresh pita bread and dips like baba ghanoush and hummus. Next, he heads to Flushing, which is home to the largest Chinatown in New York City. Here, he visits a popular dim sum restaurant and tries a variety of steamed dumplings filled with pork, shrimp, and even chicken feet.

Moving on to Jackson Heights, Andrew samples some authentic Colombian food, including empanadas and arepas, at a local market. He then heads to a traditional Indian restaurant and tries some spicy chicken tikka masala and crispy papadum.

The episode also highlights some of Queens' unique street foods, including a popular Dominican snack called chimichurri, a bacon-wrapped hot dog from a local food cart, and Mexican-style corn on the cob. Andrew also visits a local bakery to try some of the best baklava in New York City.

In addition to showcasing the diverse cuisine of Queens, Andrew also speaks with some of the locals who make these dishes and learns about their cultural significance. Overall, the episode is a celebration of the borough's rich culinary heritage and showcases how Queens has become a food destination in its own right.
