Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Season 2007 Episode 15 Seaside Eats

  • October 15, 2007

In the fifteenth episode of the 2007 season of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, host Guy Fieri heads to the coast for some Seaside Eats. First up is a visit to a seafood shack in Seaside, Oregon called Norma's Seafood and Steak. Norma's has been a staple in the community for over 50 years, and they pride themselves on using only the freshest ingredients. Guy samples their famous fish tacos, made with cod that's hand-battered and fried to order. He also tries their clam chowder, which is made with cream, bacon, and plenty of clams.

Next, Guy heads to Monterey, California, to visit a small spot called Grasing's Coastal Cuisine. The chef here, Kurt Grasing, has been in the restaurant industry for over 30 years and is known for his inventive takes on classic dishes. Guy tries the lobster mac n' cheese, which is made with fresh, succulent lobster meat and a creamy, cheesy sauce. He also samples the grilled artichokes, which are rubbed with lemon and garlic and served with a homemade aioli.

After that, Guy heads to San Diego to visit Blue Water Seafood Market and Grill. This spot is unique because they're not just a restaurant – they're also a seafood market where customers can purchase fresh seafood to take home and cook themselves. Guy tries the blackened swordfish sandwich, which is topped with avocado and a spicy tartar sauce. He also samples their famous fish tacos, made with fresh fish that's grilled to perfection.

Finally, Guy heads to Cannon Beach, Oregon, to visit Driftwood Restaurant and Lounge. This spot is right on the beach, and they specialize in Pacific Northwest cuisine. Guy tries the cedar-planked salmon, which is cooked on a cedar plank for a smoky flavor. He also samples the Dungeness crab cakes, which are made with fresh crab meat and served with a spicy remoulade.

Throughout the episode, Guy is impressed by the creativity and skill of the chefs he meets. From classic dishes like fish tacos and clam chowder, to more upscale takes on seafood like lobster mac n' cheese and cedar-planked salmon, each spot offers something unique and delicious. And with the beautiful coastal scenery as a backdrop, this episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is a feast for the senses.
