Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Season 2010 Episode 2 Stacked, Stuffed and Loaded

  • January 18, 2010

In the second episode of the 2010 season of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, titled "Stacked, Stuffed and Loaded," host Guy Fieri takes viewers on a culinary adventure through three different eateries across the United States. Fieri's journey begins in Somerville, Massachusetts, at a restaurant called Rudy's Café, where he samples some of their famous breakfast sandwiches. The sandwiches are packed with eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheese all served on a fresh sub roll. Fieri also gets to try their signature dish, a Philly-style cheese steak with a twist - the sandwich is made with chicken instead of beef.

Next, Fieri heads to Seattle, Washington, to visit a restaurant called Skillet Diner. Here, he gets to sample some of the diner's most popular dishes, including their famous fried chicken and waffles. The chicken is brined in buttermilk and fried in a cast-iron skillet, giving it a crispy outside and juicy inside. The waffles are made with bacon inside the batter, adding a savory complement to the sweetness of the maple syrup. Fieri also tries Skillet Diner's poutine, a Canadian dish made with french fries and topped with cheese curds and gravy.

Fieri's final stop in this episode is in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at The Frontier Restaurant. The Frontier is a classic New Mexican-style restaurant that specializes in green chile dishes. Fieri gets to try their stacked enchiladas, which are filled with beef, cheese, and smothered in green chile sauce. He also samples their famous green chile cheeseburger, which is made with a half-pound beef patty, American cheese, and roasted green chiles.

Throughout the episode, Fieri meets with the chefs and owners of each restaurant, learning about their signature dishes and the history behind their establishments. He also showcases the unique décor and ambiance of each eatery. From the classic diner feel of Skillet Diner to the traditional New Mexican décor of The Frontier, Fieri illustrates how food and atmosphere go hand in hand.

Overall, “Stacked, Stuffed and Loaded” offers an array of mouth-watering dishes from three distinct restaurants that highlight the diversity and creativity of American cuisine. With Fieri as the host and guide, it's easy to see why Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives remains a popular show for foodies all over the country.
