  • September 24, 2012

Guy Fieri is back on the road exploring new and exciting eats in this episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. With East Coast Comfort as the theme, Fieri travels to some of the most iconic and delicious restaurants on the eastern seaboard.

The first stop on his journey is a small diner in New Jersey that's been serving up comfort food since the 1940s. The menu at the diner is simple and classic, but the dishes are anything but ordinary. Fieri tries some of the signature dishes such as the fried chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, and a BLT with fried green tomatoes. The diner's owner also shows him how they make their famous homemade pies, from scratch every day.

Next, Fieri heads to a BBQ joint in Baltimore, Maryland. The owner of the restaurant has been smoking meat for years, and it shows in the delicious flavor of the brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. Fieri also gets to try some of the restaurant's unique sides, such as a sweet potato and kale salad and smoked mac and cheese.

In Philadelphia, Fieri visits an Italian deli that's been in business for over 100 years. The deli specializes in making traditional Italian sandwiches, and Fieri tries the classic Italian hoagie and a roast pork sandwich with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone. The owner also teaches Fieri how to make their famous homemade sausage.

After the deli, Fieri travels to a seafood shack in Massachusetts. The restaurant is located right on the water, and the seafood is as fresh as it gets. Fieri tries some of the restaurant's popular dishes, including clam chowder, lobster rolls, and fried clams.

Finally, Fieri visits a diner in upstate New York that's been around since the 1950s. The diner is known for its towering burgers, and Fieri tries one of the biggest – the Belly Buster Burger. The burger is so big it comes with its own serving platter! Fieri also tries some of the diner's homemade soups and classic comfort food dishes.

Throughout the episode, Fieri meets the passionate owners and chefs behind each restaurant, learning about their history and unique take on comfort food. With mouth-watering dishes and plenty of personality, East Coast Comfort is a must-watch episode for foodies and fans of the show alike.
