  • May 20, 2013

Guy Fieri is back on the road for another episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. This time, he's making his way through some of the best comfort food in the country. In episode 15 of season 2013, titled "Peppers, Pork and Poutine," he's on a mission to find the best dishes that make you want to dive right in.

The first stop on his journey takes him to a small dive in Austin, Texas, where they are serving up some of the best pork in the city. The chef has created a signature dish that combines pork belly and pork shoulder, slow-roasted for hours until they are perfectly tender and juicy. The dish is finished with a tangy barbecue sauce and served with a side of mashed sweet potatoes that are so good, they could be dessert.

Next up, Guy heads to a restaurant in Buffalo, New York, that specializes in a Canadian classic - poutine. For the uninitiated, poutine is a dish that originated in Quebec and consists of French fries topped with gravy and cheese curds. This restaurant takes things to the next level by adding crispy fried chicken and roasted poblano peppers to their version. Guy can't get enough of this creative and delicious take on a traditional dish.

In Detroit, Guy visits a restaurant that has become famous for their hot sauce. This family-owned joint has been around for over 70 years, and they've been perfecting their sauce recipe all along. Guy has the chance to try it out on their specialty dish - a chicken shawarma that's packed with flavor. The combination of spicy chicken, crisp veggies, and tangy sauce is simply irresistible.

Moving further west, Guy makes his way to San Francisco to visit a restaurant that's not afraid to go big. Their signature dish is a massive burrito stuffed with slow-cooked pork, beans, rice, cheese, and more. This thing is so big that they have to wrap it in two tortillas just to hold it all. Guy is certainly up for the challenge, and he digs in with a smile on his face.

Finally, Guy heads to Idaho to visit a restaurant that's putting a unique twist on a classic breakfast dish. They've taken biscuits and gravy and turned them into a sandwich that's packed with sausage, eggs, and delicious gravy. It may sound crazy, but Guy can't deny that it's absolutely delicious.

Overall, this episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is all about comfort food that's full of flavor and guaranteed to satisfy. From slow-cooked pork to creative takes on poutine, these restaurants are serving up dishes that will make your mouth water. Guy Fieri is clearly having a great time sampling everything on the menu, and viewers at home will definitely want to join in on the fun.
