  • August 7, 2015

From Biscuits to Brisket is the seventeenth episode of the 2015 season of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Host Guy Fieri takes viewers on a culinary journey to three different restaurants across the United States that specialize in southern cuisine.

The first stop is City Cafe in Memphis, Tennessee. The restaurant has been around for over 100 years and is known for its homemade biscuits. Guy meets with the owner, a third-generation family member, who shows him how they make the biscuits from scratch. In addition to biscuits, City Cafe also serves up southern staples like fried chicken and gravy.

Next, Guy heads to Free Range Kitchen and Wine Bar in Basalt, Colorado. This farm-to-table restaurant is located in a converted gas station and is run by two sisters. They use only locally sourced ingredients to create their dishes, including their brisket. Guy is blown away by their house-smoked brisket, which they use in a variety of different dishes, including their brisket sandwich.

The final stop on the episode is The Southern Gentleman in Atlanta, Georgia. This upscale restaurant puts a modern spin on southern classics. Guy samples their shrimp and grits, which are made with stone ground grits and house-cured tasso ham. He also tries their crawfish pot pie, which is hearty and flavorful.

Throughout the episode, viewers get an inside look at each restaurant's kitchen and the techniques and ingredients they use to create their signature dishes. Guy also talks with the owners and chefs about their background and what inspires their cooking.

From Biscuits to Brisket is a mouthwatering episode that showcases the best of southern cuisine. Whether you're a longtime fan of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives or a newcomer to the show, this episode is sure to leave you hungry for more.
