  • January 15, 2016

In the second episode of the 2016 season of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, host Guy Fieri visits three restaurants that have been passed down through generations of families.

The first stop is at a diner in Portland, Oregon, where a father and son duo have been serving up classic comfort food for over 50 years. Guy tries their famous chicken and dumplings and a unique burger that features hash browns as a topping.

Next, Guy travels to Santa Barbara, California, to visit a Mexican restaurant that has been in the same family for four generations. He samples their tacos, tamales, and a special dish made with beef tongue before meeting with the current owner, who talks about the challenges of maintaining tradition while adapting to modern tastes.

The final stop is in Buena Park, California, at a family-owned barbecue joint that has been operating since the 1950s. Guy gets a behind-the-scenes look at their smoking process before trying their award-winning ribs and pulled pork sandwiches.

Throughout the episode, Guy highlights the unique flavors and stories that make each of these family-owned restaurants special. He also learns about the hard work and dedication it takes to keep a business running for multiple generations.
