Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives is back with a brand new season, and this time we're kicking things off with a Triple D Nation: Pork and Poke special. Host Guy Fieri is taking viewers on a journey across the country to revisit some of the best pork and poke joints featured on the show over the years.
First up, we're headed to Seattle, Washington to check out Kamonegi, a Japanese restaurant that specializes in soba noodles and creative small plates. While they may not be known for their pork or poke dishes, Chef Mutsuko Soma is an expert at incorporating unique and unexpected flavors into her menu. Guy and Mutsuko team up to make a soba dish with pork belly and miso sauce that's out of this world.
Next, we're headed to Tucson, Arizona to visit El Guero Canelo, home of the Sonoran hot dog. This legendary food truck has been serving up their signature bacon-wrapped dogs for over 20 years, and they've gained a loyal following for good reason. Guy meets up with owner Daniel Contreras to learn the secrets behind this iconic dish and to try his hand at making one himself.
After that, we're headed to Chicago, Illinois to visit Honey Butter Fried Chicken. This quirky restaurant is known for its flavorful fried chicken, but it's their poke dish that has Guy coming back for more. Chef Christine Cikowski mixes traditional Hawaiian flavors with unexpected ingredients like quinoa and roasted beets to create a poke bowl that's both healthy and delicious.
Our next stop is in Nashville, Tennessee at G'z Bbq, where pitmaster and owner Mark Newman is serving up mouthwatering pork dishes that are a cut above the rest. Guy gets a taste of their smoked pork belly, which is slow-cooked for over 12 hours and served with a side of mac and cheese.
Finally, we're headed to San Francisco, California to visit Liholiho Yacht Club, a modern take on Hawaiian cuisine. Chef Ravi Kapur puts a twist on traditional poke by serving it with a side of bone marrow, creating a dish that's both luxurious and delicious. Guy and Ravi also whip up a seared pork belly dish that's packed with flavor.
Throughout the episode, Guy catches up with the owners and chefs at each stop to see what they've been up to since being featured on the show. He also shares some behind-the-scenes stories about filming and highlights favorite moments from the past 40 seasons of the show.
If you're a fan of pork and poke, this episode is not to be missed. With mouthwatering dishes from across the country and plenty of Triple D flavor, it's the perfect way to kick off the new season of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
