Doug and Skeeter have to design and build their own soapbox car from scratch, and then test it out in a series of crazy stunts and races. With the help of some unexpected allies, including the reformed bully Ned Cauphee and Doug's little sister Judy, they are able to overcome all obstacles and emerge victorious in the end. Through this experience, Doug learns that true friendships can overcome even the toughest challenges, and that working together as a team is always better than going it alone.
