Ep 2. I Want to Protect You

In Full Metal Panic! season 1 episode 2, titled "I Want to Protect You," we see our protagonist, Sousuke Sagara, continue his mission to protect Kaname Chidori, a high school student with a mysterious past. Sousuke is a member of Mithril, a secret organization that operates outside of government control and is tasked with protecting people from potential threats.

As a former child soldier, Sousuke is well-trained in combat and has a tendency to take any potential danger very seriously. In this episode, he takes it upon himself to follow Kaname around school, making sure she is safe from any harm. While Sousuke's intentions are pure, his methods are often extreme and can be seen as invasive by those around him. This is exemplified in a scene where he breaks into Kaname's locker, believing there may be a bomb inside. This angers Kaname and causes her to distance herself from Sousuke.

As the episode progresses, we see Kaname come to realize that Sousuke's intentions are to protect her, even if his methods may seem extreme. She begins to see him as an ally and even helps him in his mission. This is seen when she volunteers to be bait to lure out a potential threat to her safety.

This episode also gives us a glimpse into the larger world of Full Metal Panic!, as we are introduced to Gauron, the main antagonist of the series. Gauron is a former member of Mithril who went rogue and joined forces with a rival organization. He is shown to be a ruthless and dangerous person, willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals.

In "I Want to Protect You," we see Gauron's presence in the form of a disguised agent who infiltrates Kaname's school. This sets the stage for what is sure to be a larger conflict between Mithril and Gauron's organization.

Overall, Full Metal Panic! season 1 episode 2 is an action-packed episode that further develops the relationship between Sousuke and Kaname. While Sousuke's methods may seem extreme, his intentions are pure and his loyalty to Kaname is unwavering. With the introduction of Gauron and his organization, the stakes are raised, and the threat to Kaname's safety becomes even greater.
