Gem Hunt is a unique journey around the world to find the most precious and valuable gems. The show's second episode is named "Tanzanite - Tanzania" since it follows one of the most exciting and challenging hunts of the show's first season.

The episode starts by introducing the main cast of the show - Ron LeBlanc, Diane Robinson, and Bernie Gaboury. They arrive in Tanzania, Africa, to find Tanzanite, a rare and beautiful gemstone that can only be found in one place in the world - the Mererani Hills in northern Tanzania. The hunt for Tanzanite begins, and the team explores the different mines around the area trying to find the best-performing mines.

The first mine they explore is owned by a Tanzanian man, who inherited it from his father. Ron, Diane, and Bernie soon find out that the mine is not big enough to produce enough Tanzanite to meet their demands. They decide to explore other mines with the hope of finding a better one. The team meets with many locals who are either miners or miners' representatives and also talk to the locals who can help them with their journey.

One such local they consult is a miner who recently found a giant Tanzanite stone, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, and sold it to a dealer for a fraction of its worth. This miner tells the team that the dealer who bought his Tanzanite normally deals in smaller and lower-quality stones. Therefore, Ron, Diane, and Bernie decide to meet with the dealer to try and get more information about Tanzanite and its market.

The dealer's shop is located in Arusha, a nearby city from the region, and they meet with him to discuss Tanzanite's market and the prices for various grades of stones. The dealer helps them understand that Tanzanite is one of the most sought-after gemstones in the world due to its unique blue-violet color. The dealer explains that the cost of Tanzanite varies depending on the color and quality, and the highest grade of Tanzanite could cost up to $15,000 per carat.

After exploring many mines, the team finally finds a rich Tanzanite deposit owned by a group of local miners. But, the mine is six kilometers deep in the earth's crust, the deepest mine they had ever visited. Ron, Diane, and Bernie decide to take the risk and visit this mine. To reach the mine, they have to walk on a path with dangerous sharp rocks on either side. The miners help the team to reach the bottom of the mines where the Tanzanite deposits are located. The miners also guide the team and help them extract and sort the Tanzanite from the earth.

The Tanzanite deposit is rich and fertile, and Ron, Diane, and Bernie discover several large and vivid Tanzanite stones. These findings inspire them to spend more days mining for Tanzanite and be even more daring in their quest. The team continues to work together with the miners to find beautiful and high-quality Tanzanite stones.

Overall, this episode of Gem Hunt takes the audience to a thrilling adventure to find Tanzanite in one of the most remote and dangerous parts of the world. The team is fearless in their search for the rare and beautiful gem, and their encounters with the locals and miners are all fascinating. With the help of the locals and their persistence, the team finds several high-grade Tanzanite stones that make the entire journey worth the risk.
