Edinburgh Manor, the first episode of season 11 of Ghost Adventures, takes the three-person team to the small town of Scotch Grove, Iowa, where they visit a state mental institution with a haunted reputation. The Warren County Poor Farm, officially known as the Edinburgh Manor, dates back to the early 20th century and was designed to provide care for the elderly, disabled, and mentally ill. It was eventually shut down in the late 1990s due to an outcry of harsh living conditions and understaffing. The ghosts of former patients are said to still haunt the now-abandoned halls of the manor.

The episode begins with host Zak Bagans giving a brief history of the Edinburgh Manor and the atrocities that took place within its walls. The team arrives at nightfall, and upon entering, they immediately feel a sense of unease. The team uses their equipment to detect any paranormal activity, including a device called the Ovilus, which translates electromagnetic energy into words. They hear words like "pain" and "evil" come through the device, adding to the eerie atmosphere.

The first stop on the investigation is the cellar, where it is rumored that a former caretaker committed suicide by hanging himself. The team sets up various cameras and begins to ask the spirits questions. Bagans reports feeling a cold breeze and even states that he feels a presence around him. The team captures what sounds like a voice saying "hello" in response to one of their questions.

Next up is the abandoned surgery room, where the team sets up more equipment and begins their questioning. The room itself is creepy enough, with old surgical equipment lining the walls and rusted hospital beds scattered throughout. The team captures what sounds like a woman crying and a faint whisper saying "get out."

The team also visits the children's ward, where the spirits of children who died in the manor are said to still roam. They capture multiple EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) recordings that sound like children singing and laughing. Bagans seems particularly affected by the children's ward, stating that he has a young daughter of his own and the idea of innocent children being mistreated is especially upsetting to him.

The last stop on the investigation is the infamous "black room," a small, windowless room where patients were reportedly subjected to cruel punishment and torture. The team sets up their equipment and immediately begins to feel a strong sense of negativity. Bagans reports feeling like something is pushing him and even says that he sees an apparition out of the corner of his eye. The team captures what sounds like a scream and a growl in the room.

Throughout the episode, the team also interviews former employees and caretakers of the Edinburgh Manor who recount strange experiences and unexplainable events that they witnessed firsthand. The team also delves into the history of the manor and the terrible conditions that patients were subjected to, shedding light on the serious problems that plagued mental institutions in the past.

In the end, the team concludes that the Edinburgh Manor is indeed haunted and that the spirits of former patients still reside within. Bagans even goes as far as to say that the manor is "one of the most haunted locations we have ever investigated." The episode ends with the team vowing to continue their quest to uncover the truth behind the paranormal and to bring closure to those who have suffered in the past.
