Gifu Dodo!! Kanetsugu and Keiji is a Japanese television series based on the adventures of two legendary samurais, Naoe Kanetsugu and Maeda Keiji. The show premiered on TV TOKYO on October 2, 2020, and ran for a total of 12 episodes. The series is set in the late 16th century during the Sengoku period, a time of political upheaval and constant warfare in Japan. The story follows the exploits of Kanetsugu and Keiji as they navigate the complicated world of samurai politics, battle powerful enemies, and protect their allies.

Kanetsugu is a retainer of the Uesugi clan, one of the most powerful samurai clans in Japan at the time. He is known for his loyalty, integrity, and his skill with the spear. Keiji, on the other hand, is a colorful and flamboyant warrior who is more interested in enjoying life than adhering to strict samurai codes of conduct. Despite their differences, the two become fast friends and embark on a series of adventures together.

The show is packed with action, drama, and humor, as Kanetsugu and Keiji face off against a variety of foes. They battle rival samurai clans, powerful warlords, and even supernatural creatures like demons and ghosts. Along the way, they meet a cast of colorful characters, including other samurai, peasants, and merchants. The series also explores deeper themes like loyalty, honor, and the meaning of true strength.

One of the key strengths of Gifu Dodo!! Kanetsugu and Keiji is its dynamic characters. Kanetsugu is a stoic and noble warrior who is always true to his word. He takes his duties as a retainer seriously, and will do anything to protect his lord and his allies. Keiji, on the other hand, is a lovable rogue who loves to party and have a good time. He often clashes with Kanetsugu over their different values, but the two always have each other's backs when it counts.

The show also features a strong supporting cast, including Uesugi Kagekatsu, the lord of the Uesugi clan, and Maeda Toshiie, a powerful samurai who is Keiji's former master. Other notable characters include Oichi, a fearsome warrior who is feared by all who cross her, and Otokojuku, a group of rough-and-tumble fighters who become allies of Kanetsugu and Keiji.

One of the most impressive aspects of the show is its attention to detail when it comes to historical accuracy. The series is based on real historical figures, and the setting and costumes are all faithful to the Sengoku period. This gives the show a sense of authenticity that is rare in historical dramas.

Another highlight of the show is its action scenes. The battles are expertly choreographed, and the fight scenes are both thrilling and visually impressive. Whether they're battling hordes of enemy soldiers or facing off against supernatural creatures, Kanetsugu and Keiji always manage to come out on top through their skill and ingenuity.

Despite its historical setting, Gifu Dodo!! Kanetsugu and Keiji is a show that will appeal to fans of all genres. Its mix of action, drama, and humor makes it a fun and entertaining watch, while its themes of loyalty and honor give it a deeper emotional resonance. If you're a fan of samurai stories, historical dramas, or just good old-fashioned action, this is definitely a show worth checking out.

Gifu Dodo!! Kanetsugu and Keiji is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (25 episodes). The series first aired on July 2, 2013.
