Haiyoru! Nyaruani is an anime series produced by TV Tokyo. It is a collection of short episodes, also known as ONA (Original Net Animation) that typically last for about two or three minutes each. The show had two seasons - Haiyoru! Nyaruani: Remember My Love(craft-sensei) which was aired in December 2009 and Haiyoru! Nyaruani: Remember My Mr. Lovecraft which aired in December 2010.

The show begins with an introduction to Nyaruko, a girl who claims herself to be a monster from the Cthulhu Mythos, which is a fictional world created by H.P. Lovecraft. She is part of a group of beings who hail from Lovecraft's world and are referred to as the "Nyarlathotep". Nyaruko soon develops a crush on Mahiro, a normal high school student who quickly becomes aware of her, leading to weird and awkward situations.

The series is a zany, action-comedy set in a world of cosmic horror where Nyaruko goes to great lengths to capture the heart of Mahiro, however in almost all her attempts, she is thwarted by the vigilant Mahiro. The show is a blend of numerous genres, including sci-fi, comedy, and romance, and it often parodies other anime and manga titles that appear within the show.

The first season of Haiyoru! Nyaruani begins with Nyaruko appearing in Mahiro's home, much to his surprise. She then announces her intentions to be with him forever and vows to protect him from any harm that may befall him. She calls Mahiro the "Goddess of Love" and aggressively pursues him, despite his continued resistance. However, her plans are often derailed due to Mahiro's skepticism of her intentions, or by the arrival of other Nyarlathotep beings who may cause chaos.

As she tries to win over Mahiro, Nyaruko enlists the help of her fellow Nyarlathotep, including Cthuko, Hastur, and Hasuta. These characters bring more diversity to the world of Haiyoru! Nyaruani with their own unique personalities, and comedic backstories.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the series is its playful and self-referential humor. Each episode is littered with references to other anime and pop culture references, as well as Lovecraft's stories, to cater to fans of the horror mythos. The show's rapid-fire jokes are a highlight, with gags often involving wordplay or absurd situations.

In the second season, Nyaruko and Mahiro's relationship deepens as Nyaruko's antics become more affectionate. More Nyarlathotep characters are introduced to the show, including Kuuko, a boy in love with Nyaruko, and Shantak-kun, a bird-like familiar of Nyaruko's that speaks with a stilted tone. A new character is also introduced, a girl called Ku-ne.

Nyaruko's affection for Mahiro reaches new levels, and she becomes more obsessive than ever. Her devotion borders on insanity, and it's both endearing and humorous to see how far she will go for Mahiro. Mahiro himself is still in shock, struggling to acclimate to the extraordinary circumstances around him, as well as Nyaruko's advances.

The show's animation style matches the swift pace and manic tone of the storyline. The artwork and animation are bright, colorful, and expressive, using high-energy cuts to keep the audience engaged. The backgrounds are whimsical, and the character designs are stylized to reflect the absurdity of the show.

In conclusion, Haiyoru! Nyaruani is a great show for fans of comedy and parody. Its quick pace and broad humor make it a lighthearted addition to any anime fan's watch list. The story is well-written, and the characters are lovable and entertaining. It's a great anime to watch if you're looking for something fun and engaging, with a bit of horror thrown in for good measure.
