Antwahn / Billy is the eighth episode of the second season of Intervention. This episode follows the stories of two individuals struggling with addiction.
Antwahn is a former professional basketball player who was once at the height of his career. However, his addiction to crack cocaine caused him to hit rock bottom. Antwahn lost his job, his wife and children, and his home. He now resides in a hotel room, where he spends his days smoking crack and hoping for his next fix. His family and friends are worried about him and have decided to stage an intervention in the hopes that Antwahn will agree to seek help.
Billy is a former Marine who served his country in Iraq. However, after returning home, Billy struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and turned to alcohol to numb the pain. Billy's addiction to alcohol has caused him to lose everything, including his wife, his job, and his home. He now lives with his father and stepmother in their small trailer in the hopes of turning his life around. His family has decided to intervene as they fear Billy's addiction will continue to spiral out of control if he does not seek help.
The episode follows the typical format of the show, with family and friends meeting with a professional interventionist to devise a plan to help their loved one. The group then confronts Antwahn and Billy, hoping to persuade them to enter treatment. Both men are resistant at first, but eventually agree to get help.
Antwahn and Billy's journeys to recovery are not easy, and the episode does not shy away from showing the difficulties both men face on the path to sobriety. Viewers also get a glimpse into how addiction affects not only the individuals struggling with it but also their families and loved ones.
Overall, Antwahn / Billy is a powerful and emotional episode, highlighting the devastating effects of addiction and the importance of support and treatment in overcoming it.
