Kanamemo season 1 episode 4, titled "My First Time at the Pool," follows the main character Kana Nakamachi as she attends a pool outing with her friends from her new job at the newspaper delivery company, where they all work as teenage newspaper girls.
The episode opens with Kana and her friends getting ready for the pool, choosing swimsuits and sunscreen, and packing their bags with pool essentials. They have all been looking forward to this day and are excited to have a fun day together.
Once they arrive at the pool, Kana realizes that she's forgotten something crucial - she doesn't know how to swim. She tells her friends that she can't go in the water, but they convince her to at least try. They promise to stay with her and help her learn.
Kana is nervous at first but eventually enters the pool with her friends' help. They teach her how to float, and she starts to feel more comfortable in the water. They encourage her to try swimming on her own, and Kana slowly makes her way across the pool.
Meanwhile, some of Kana's other coworkers from the newspaper delivery company arrive at the pool and start causing trouble. They are rowdy and obnoxious, and they start disrupting the other guests' enjoyment of the pool. Kana's friends are worried that they'll get kicked out of the pool if they don't do something about it.
Kana and her friends decide to confront the troublemakers and ask them to behave. They are hesitant at first, but Kana stands up to them and tells them to stop. To everyone's surprise, the troublemakers listen to Kana and apologize for their behavior.
After the incident, Kana's friends praise her for being brave and standing up to the troublemakers. They tell her that they were impressed by her courage and determination, and Kana feels proud of herself. She realizes that she has made new friends who support her and encourage her to be her best self.
The episode ends with Kana and her friends enjoying the rest of their day at the pool, swimming and having fun together. Kana looks back on her first day at the pool with fondness and gratitude, knowing that she has made great new friends and learned an important lesson about standing up for herself.
