Ep 3. I Want This to Be Real

I Want This to Be Real is the third episode of the second season of Love After Lockup, a docu-series that follows couples who fall in love while one partner is behind bars. The episode continues to explore the relationships of six couples who are navigating the challenges of reuniting after years of separation.

The episode begins with Angela and Tony, who are struggling to adjust to life outside of prison. Tony, who is on parole, must adhere to strict rules, which include regular drug testing and a curfew. Angela worries that Tony's past addiction problems will cause him to relapse and ruin their relationship. Later, the couple attends a support group for people with addiction problems, where Tony shares his struggle to stay clean.

We also catch up with Lizzie and Scott, whose relationship hits a roadblock when Scott's son arrives unexpectedly from out of town. Scott's son is skeptical of Lizzie's intentions and warns his father that he could be getting scammed. Lizzie becomes emotional, feeling like she is being unfairly judged by Scott's family.

Meanwhile, Clint and Tracie are in Las Vegas for their honeymoon, but their trip takes a dark turn when Tracie disappears. Clint panics and reaches out to Tracie's old drug dealers to try and find her. Tracie eventually shows up at their hotel room, high on drugs and upset that Clint didn't trust her.

In California, Meggan and Michael continue to struggle with communication and trust issues. Meggan feels like Michael is withholding information and may still be cheating on her. Michael insists that he's been faithful and wants their relationship to work.

Marcelino and Brittany are still adjusting to life as a family after Marcelino's release from prison. Brittany tries to find a job, but struggles to find employment due to her criminal record. Marcelino offers to support her financially, but Brittany wants to contribute to their household and continue to rebuild her life.

Lastly, we check in with Caitlin and Matt, who are dealing with Caitlin's mother's disapproval of their relationship. Caitlin's mother is concerned that Matt, who has a history of addiction and criminal behavior, will be a negative influence on her daughter. Caitlin tries to convince her mother that Matt has changed and is committed to staying sober.

I Want This to Be Real showcases the ups and downs of relationships between people who have been incarcerated and their partners. Each couple faces unique challenges as they try to rebuild their lives together, but they all share a common goal of wanting their love to last beyond the confines of prison.
