Ep 1. Chance Encounter... With Wicked Lord Shingan

Yuta Togashi is a high school student who has just started his first year. However, he has a dark past that he is trying to move on from. In middle school, Yuta suffered from chunibyo, a condition where he believed himself to possess magical powers and would act accordingly. He gave himself the title of Dark Flame Master and would often wear an eye patch over his right eye. Embarrassed by his past, Yuta tries to lead a normal life and forget about his chunibyo days.

But fate has other plans for Yuta. On his way to school, he runs into a girl named Rikka Takanashi who is wearing an eye patch and carrying a parasol. Yuta immediately recognizes her as a fellow chunibyo and tries to avoid her. However, Rikka is persistent and introduces herself as the wielder of the Tyrant's Eye, a powerful artifact that allows her to see things that others cannot. She mistakes Yuta for a magical warrior and asks for his help in defeating the evil lords that threaten their world. Yuta tries to explain that chunibyo is just a phase and that they should not take it seriously. However, Rikka insists that their "delusions" are real and that they must fight against the wicked lord Shingan.

Despite his reservations, Yuta is drawn into Rikka's world and decides to play along with her fantasy. He even helps her create a contract that binds them together as magical partners. Rikka gives Yuta the title of Dark Flame Master and they begin their quest to defeat lord Shingan. Along the way, they meet other chunibyo enthusiasts such as Rikka's friend, Sanae Dekomori, who is the wielder of the Mjolnir Hammer and believes herself to be a servant of the Dark Flame Master.

As they embark on their quest, Yuta begins to question the validity of their delusions. He starts to see things from a more realistic perspective and realizes that he cannot keep living in a fantasy world. However, he is also conflicted because he enjoys spending time with Rikka and the others. He is torn between wanting to embrace his past and move on to a more normal life.

Chance Encounter... With Wicked Lord Shingan introduces viewers to the world of chunibyo and the characters who inhabit it. The episode sets up an interesting conflict between Yuta's desire for normalcy and Rikka's insistence that their delusions are real. It also introduces the concept of magical artifacts and the various titles that chunibyo enthusiasts give themselves.
