Ep 3. The Heretical... Pigtailed Girl

As the third episode of season one of Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions, "The Heretical... Pigtailed Girl" continues the comedic and heartfelt story of high school student Yuuta Togashi and his interactions with his classmate Rikka Takanashi, who suffers from "chuunibyou," a condition characterized by delusions of grandeur and a desire for an extraordinary, fantastical life.

As the battle ensues, Kuzuha and Rikka's classmate, Makoto Isshiki, watch from the sidelines in confusion.

The episode then focuses on Rikka as she struggles to come to terms with the fact that she may not be the only person in the world with chuunibyou. She becomes jealous of Kuzuha's new friend, who also happens to have the condition, and begins to isolate herself from her friends. Yuuta, recognizing what is happening, tries to reach out to her and explain that it doesn't matter if other people have chuunibyou, because their own unique delusions are what make them special and should be celebrated.

The climax of the episode comes when Rikka is confronted by Shinka, who admits that she used to have chuunibyou herself but grew out of it. Shinka tells Rikka that it's time to move on and start living in the real world. Rikka is devastated and runs away, but Yuuta and Kuzuha chase after her. In a heartfelt moment, Yuuta confesses that he also suffers from chuunibyou and that he understands how she feels. He promises to always be there for her and to help her in any way he can.

"The Heretical...
