After touring around the United States, the popular show Man v. Food hits Richmond, Virginia for its season 12 episode 3. Host Casey Webb takes on the challenge of trying out the toughest spicy foods that Richmond has to offer.
The episode begins with Casey at the Bayou Bakery, where he tries out their signature dish the "Waffle of Massive Deliciousness". This dish is quite unique and is a waffle sandwich filled with Andouille sausage, eggs, bacon, and hot sauce. Casey loves the dish and talks about how the waffle is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Next, Casey visits the Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint. They serve the "Elvis", a burger which is slathered with peanut butter, topped with bacon and cheese. Casey finds the dish to be a little overwhelming, but he is a big fan of the combinations and flavors of different ingredients in the dish.
Moving on with the episode, Casey heads to Buz and Ned’s Real Barbecue, which claims to make the best brisket sandwich in town. The sandwich is made of Texas-style brisket that has been rubbed with spices and slow-cooked overnight until it’s tender and juicy. Casey is delighted with the sandwich and highly recommends a visit to this joint.
Next, he goes to a surprise location, "The Dirty Buffalo" to try out the "Death Row" challenge, which is a spicy wings challenge. Casey is given twenty minutes to finish ten spicy wings, where each wing has to be coated in their spiciest sauce that measures around two million Scoville units. The spicy level of this dish is off the charts, and even the host himself has a tough time finishing the challenge. The challenge is the toughest part of the episode and is definitely not for the faint-hearted.
The episode moves on with Casey visiting "The Black Sheep" restaurant, which is essential for those looking for a great brunch spot in town. Casey tries their fried chicken and waffles, which is served with hot honey butter and hot sauce. He finds this dish to be surprisingly tasty, given the perfect combination of sweet and savory flavors.
Lastly, he visits "The Hop Craft Pizza and Beer", which is known for their giant pizza slices. The pizza slice is enormous and comes with pepperoni, sausage, and peppers. Casey loves the pizza and talks about how the crust is thin, crispy, and pulled away perfectly from the toppings.
The episode is a great mix of savory and spicy dishes that Richmond has to offer. Casey does an excellent job of not only trying the dishes but also highlighting what makes each dish unique and why it is a must-try. The episode doesn't disappoint the viewers and leaves them drooling for more.
