Maria The Virgin Witch is an anime adaption of a Japanese manga series. It's set in France during the time of the Hundred Years' War. The show follows Maria, who is an extremely powerful witch. Her objective is to help the people of France fend off invaders and keep the peace. She does this by using her incubus and succubus demons to influence opposing parties. While some of the locals are forever thankful for her pursuit, the church feels completely opposed to her actions. As Maria gains wide-spread fame through her anti-war efforts, she catches the attention of Archangel Michael. He insists that Maria let the humans work out their own affairs without her magical assistance. To ensure that Maria doesn't get further involved with the affairs of humans he sends another angel, Ezekiel, to watch over her actions. He also makes it very clear that if Maria was to lose her pureness, her magical powers would be lost as well.
