Mushi-shi -Next Passage- season 1 episode 7, titled "Cloudless Rain," follows our protagonist Ginko as he travels to a small village where a strange phenomenon has been occurring. Though the sky is clear and cloudless, rain is falling from above. The villagers believe it to be the work of a water deity, but Ginko knows better - it's the work of a mushi.

Mushi are strange creatures that exist alongside humanity but are rarely seen or understood. Ginko is a mushi-shi, someone who specializes in studying and dealing with these creatures. In this episode, he must figure out what kind of mushi is causing the rain and how to stop it.

As always, Ginko spends time talking to the villagers and observing the affected area. We get to see the lush, green landscape and the people who call it home. One of the villagers, a young girl named Yui, catches Ginko's attention. She seems to have a special connection with the rain and is able to control it to some extent. Ginko suspects that she might be the key to solving the mystery.

As Ginko investigates, he discovers that the mushi generating the rain is a rare and particularly dangerous type. It feeds on emotions and will continue to produce rain until it has consumed enough. This creates a dilemma for Ginko: he can't simply destroy the mushi without harming the villagers who have inadvertently fed it with their emotions.

In true mushi-shi fashion, Ginko devises a solution that is both practical and sensitive. He enlists Yui's help in controlling the rain while he removes the mushi. This involves a precarious dance between Ginko and the mushi, where any wrong move could result in disaster.

"Cloudless Rain" is an excellent example of what makes Mushi-shi so captivating. It combines mystery, folklore, and human emotion seamlessly. The episode is visually stunning, with beautiful landscapes and cleverly animated mushi. The music is haunting and fits the mood perfectly. The storytelling is slow and deliberate, allowing the audience to absorb the world and its inhabitants.

One of the aspects of the show that sticks out is its reverence for nature and the balance between it and humans. While Ginko's job is to protect humans from the dangers of mushi, he also understands that humans can unwittingly cause problems themselves. In "Cloudless Rain," we see how even the purest of emotions, like happiness and love, can have unintended consequences.

Overall, "Cloudless Rain" is an engaging and thought-provoking episode that showcases the best of what Mushi-shi has to offer. It's a well-crafted and satisfying mystery that leaves the viewer with a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world.
