My Big Fat Fabulous Life Season 2 Episode 11 First Day on the Job

After a successful audition, Whitney Thore is excited to start her new job as a morning radio show co-host. On the day of her first show, she wakes up early and prepares for the big day. She starts off by testing her mic and headphones before going live. Nervousness and excitement both run through her body as she sits in front of the mic for the first time.

Whitney Thore's experience with listening to her own voice is minimal. As she begins to speak, she struggles to gauge her speaking tone and pitch. Her co-host tries to guide her and make her comfortable, but she feels like she's not getting the hang of things. The experience is both exhilarating and exhausting for her.

As the show moves along, Whitney’s co-host put her at ease, and Whitney lets her personality shine through the mic. She speaks about her passion for dance, body positivity and self-acceptance. Whitney’s voice becomes more confident and clear, as she becomes more familiar with the work environment.

During her first break, Whitney walks around the radio station and meets her co-workers. She sees different offices with people multitasking and pick up bits of trivia from her colleagues. One of her colleagues, a woman with a lot of experience tells Whitney to listen to her own shows and learn from them.

The show had segments about celebrity gossip, interviews, and popular culture. Whitney found herself relating these topics back to her own life and felt a sense of connection and pleasure from the feedback she received.

The radio show ends, and Whitney receives a warm round of congratulations from all of her colleagues. However, when she returns home and listens back to the show, she starts to feel much more critical of herself. After her initial excitement and joy fades away, she hears areas where she stumbled, or where she wasn’t as strong. She becomes very self-conscious when she reviews her own work and starts to question herself. Whitney becomes anxious and doubtful about her ability to handle the job.

Whitney receives a call from her boss, congratulating her for a job well done and welcoming her to the team. Whitney reveals that she’s concerned about her performance but her boss encourages her to stay positive, keep moving forward, and that she would work with her to improve her work.

While on air, Whitney discussed sharing her worries and feelings with others and the importance of self-love and self-care. She remembered the advice of her colleague who had recommended listening to her own shows and seeing where she could improve from there. Whitney decides that she will start reviewing her shows to work on her problems.

Finally, Whitney reflects on her first day on the job, thrilled and grateful for the opportunity, yet extremely nervous about the work. She remembers the advice her boss gave her, to keep moving forward and never give up on her amazing abilities.
