Ep 5. Mexican Wine Country

Pati's Mexican Table season 7 episode 5 takes viewers on a journey through Mexico's wine country. Host Pati Jinich explores the emerging wine industry in Mexico and showcases the wineries and vineyards that are pushing the boundaries of traditional winemaking.

Along the way, she samples some delicious dishes from local chefs, who incorporate the region's wines into their cooking.

One of the highlights of the episode is when Pati meets with winemaker Hugo D'Acosta, who is known as the father of the Mexican wine industry. He takes Pati to his winery and demonstrates his innovative approach to winemaking, which involves using natural methods and allowing the grapes to express their full potential. She gets to taste some of his exclusive wines, which are only available in Mexico, and learns about how he is mentoring the next generation of winemakers.

Throughout the episode, Pati also delves into the cultural significance of wine in Mexico. She visits a family-run winery in Sonora and learns how they have been making wine for generations. She also explores the role that Catholicism has played in the development of the Mexican wine industry, as many of the country's first vineyards were planted by missionaries.
