Ep 11. The School Bride

Tomoe Misumi is a fellow photography club member of Kazuya Maeda, and a year ahead of him. She has recently announced that she will be getting married after graduation and there seems to be some tension between her and Kazuya lately. Kazuya thought of the possibility that this is due to how he is not ready to let her go, so he asks her about it. During their conversation, Kazuya finds out that Tomoe is actually happy that they met and is grateful for the time and memories they've shared in the photography club. Tomoe tells Kazuya that she wants him to take pictures of her wedding day, but she adds that this doesn't mean that this is the end for them.

The next day, Kazuya finds out that the photography club will be focusing on individual projects and that it will be the last chance for everyone to submit their works. Misa, one of the members of the photography club, quickly volunteers to be Kazuya's model, but he refuses and instead visits the school's rooftop to take pictures of the sky. As he observes the clouds, a voice behind him calls his name and turns out to be Nonoka, his childhood friend. Nonoka admits that she has feelings for Kazuya and thanks him for bringing to her attention her interest in photography. Kazuya asks her why she never brought it up before, and Nonoka reveals that she was afraid he would reject her.

Kazuya and Nonoka then have a conversation about their past, particularly about how Kazuya used to take pictures of Nonoka to help her improve her self-esteem. Nonoka confesses to Kazuya that she also used to take pictures of him, but she stopped after he started to take pictures of other girls. Kazuya promises to take pictures of only her when they graduate from high school, and Nonoka feels relieved after hearing this. Afterwards, Kazuya takes pictures of Nonoka as she poses for him against the sky, perfectly encapsulating the tranquility of the moment.

The photography club members then gather together to share their final work, and Misa ends up modeling for Kazuya's photos after all. Kazuya reveals that he took photos of the sky, not because the request of the club, but because of his own desire to capture a pure moment of peace. He ends up showing his pictures of the sky and the ones he took of Nonoka. Everyone is impressed with his work and praises his artistic ability. As the club starts to disperse, Tomoe calls out Kazuya once more, asking to take pictures of her and her fiancé as part of her wedding documentation.

Photo Kano’s eleventh episode, The School Bride, truly encapsulates a touching and poignant ending to the first season. Kazuya's deep feelings and empathy towards his friends as they start to embark on different stages in life, truly come to light in this episode. The episode heavily focuses on the relationships between the characters, highlighting the everlasting bond of companionship and trust that they share regardless of how they may grow and change as individuals. It excellently showcases the value of photography in capturing not only the fleeting moments of life, but the relationships that we cherish forever. Through Kazuya's sincere and heartwarming interactions with his friends, viewers are left with a sense of hope and the importance of cherishing those whom we hold dear to ourselves.
