In Sell This House season 1 episode 10, the host, Roger Hazard, visits a home in Chicago, IL belonging to Carol Francis and Melissa Hill. The couple has been trying to sell their house for over a year, but every potential buyer has been turned off by the decor and layout of the home.

Upon arriving, Roger first takes note of the exterior of the house which has overgrown vegetation that blocks the view of the front of the house, the bricks that are dirty and discolored, and the entryway that is cluttered with items such as furniture and toys. The host then moves inside the home and is struck by how cluttered and disorganized the rooms are, with piles of clothes, dishes, and items cluttering up nearly every surface. The kitchen is outdated and has a space-consuming island, as well as a pantry that is solely sustained by sticky tape. Bedrooms have large leftover furniture, which also makes the space seem smaller.

Roger realizes that the biggest problem with the home, however, is that the couple has failed to make it look and feel inviting to potential buyers. He is convinced that the home can be sold if they change a few key things. Roger consults with his team, including an interior designer, landscaping expert, and painting experts, and they work together to create a plan to improve the home's appearance.

The team's first task is to declutter the home as much as possible, so it appears more spacious and inviting. They move personal items out of the way, including excess furniture, toys, etc. This provides a clean slate in all parts of the house, which also exposes the potential of rooms that have been ignored by the busy owners.

Next, they tackle the home's curb appeal by trimming trees and bushes and repairing the brickwork. They also give the front porch a fresh coat of paint and install new light fixtures that complement the color of the house.

Inside, a fresh layer of paint is added to every room which makes space liven up. The interior designer transforms the dining room by purchasing new tables, chairs, picture frames and decorations that suit the area well. The team chooses a lighter color scheme that brightens the entire house. The designer specifies that they will have to be careful in selecting furniture since many of the rooms are quite small.

The team also works on the kitchen by giving it a much-needed modern update which also improves functionality. They replace the dated cabinets with more flexible styles with updated finishes. The team added a new backsplash which ties the room together with a clean and cohesive look.

After several days of hard work, and a budget of $10,000, Roger's team guarantees that the home looks completely transformed and has a much better chance of selling. The owners of the house return as Roger and his team show off the final improvements, and they are amazed at how much better their house now looks. Overall the teams successfully turned Carol Francis and Melissa Hill's outdated and cluttered house into a more spacious, modern, and inviting home.
