Kyoko Mogami is a determined and passionate young woman who has left her hometown for Tokyo to support her childhood friend and crush, Sho Fuwa, as he pursues his dreams of becoming a famous singer. However, her world is shattered when she discovers that Sho sees her as nothing more than a maid and has been using her for his own selfish purposes. Fueled by anger and a desire for revenge, Kyoko decides to enter the entertainment industry herself and become even more famous than Sho, vowing to leave him in the dust.

In "Skip Beat!" season 1 episode 3, Kyoko faces her first major challenge as a member of LME's talent agency - the dreaded Love Me section. Despite the section's cute name, Love Me is anything but easy; its purpose is to bring out the best in its members by forcing them to do menial jobs and break through their own limitations. For Kyoko, whose confidence and self-esteem have already taken a hit, Love Me is a nightmare come true.

The episode opens with Kyoko arriving at LME's headquarters, dressed in a Love Me uniform topped with a giant, bright pink bow. She meets her section chief, the stern and demanding Maria Takarada, who wastes no time in setting Kyoko to work. Maria's orders are simple: Kyoko must pass out flyers advertising LME and its various talents, without stopping or resting for the entire day. If she can do that, and smile while doing it, she'll earn a "point" and move one step closer to graduating from Love Me and becoming a real talent.

Kyoko rolls up her sleeves and sets to work, but it's not long before she realizes just how difficult the task is. She's tired, thirsty, and hungry, and her feet are starting to ache from all the walking. Worse still, passersby keep ignoring her and tossing her flyers away, making her feel like she's not even worthy of their attention. As the hours wear on, Kyoko begins to lose heart, wondering if she'll ever be able to succeed in Love Me or the entertainment industry as a whole.

Her spirits are briefly lifted when she runs into Kanae Kotonami, a fellow Love Me member who's become somewhat of a role model for Kyoko. Kanae is smart, capable, and cool-headed, and she encourages Kyoko to hang in there and think of the task as a chance to improve her skills. But as Kanae walks away, Kyoko overhears a group of girls gossiping about her behind her back, calling her an "ugly duckling" and a "weirdo". Their words cut deep, and Kyoko runs off, feeling utterly alone and defeated.

As the sun sets and Kyoko's feet throb with pain, she finds herself in a park, feeling sorry for herself and wondering if it's all worth it. But then she remembers her own goal - to become famous and leave Sho behind - and realizes that giving up now would mean letting him win. With renewed determination, Kyoko decides to keep going, no matter what.

Finally, after what feels like an eternity, Kyoko makes it back to LME, her feet bloody and blistered but her heart full of pride. Maria is impressed with Kyoko's tenacity and awards her a point, but warns her that the road ahead will only get tougher. Kyoko, however, is undaunted, more resolved than ever to make her name in the cutthroat entertainment world.

In the final scene, Kyoko stands alone on a rooftop, gazing out at the city and thinking about her future. She knows that there will be many more Love Me tasks to come, and that she'll have to work harder than ever to prove herself. But with Sho's betrayal still fresh in her mind, and the support of Kanae and the other Love Me members, Kyoko knows that nothing can stop her from achieving her dreams.
