Ep 3. The Potentials of the Weakest

Despite his struggles, Kanata refuses to give up. He is determined to prove himself and become stronger. Kanata seeks advice from his instructor, Teacher Lotte, who advises him to find a partner with whom he can work to improve his magic. Kanata takes this advice and begins to work with his fellow students Rico and Lecty.

The trio encounters trouble on their training mission, as they are ambushed by a group of armed men. Kanata, Rico, and Lecty work together to defend themselves against the attackers. For the first time, Kanata is able to see that he is not entirely useless. He comes to appreciate that even though he is weak in magic, he can make up for it with his physical strength, agility and combat intelligence.

In the next scene, Kanata, Lecty, and Rico face Chloe and her partner at the academy's fountain. The two groups spot each other from afar, but before they can engage, a sudden earthquake disrupts the confrontation. The earthquake causes intense magical interference, with powerful spells malfunctioning, as both groups try to figure out what is happening and how to end the earthquake.

As the intensity of the eruption increases, it becomes apparent that the earthquake is the result of a dragon attacking the academy. Kanata and Rico put their lives on the line to defend the academy. They engage the dragon in combat, and with the aid of their magic friends, they are able to inflict damage on the creature.

The episode ends on a cliffhanger, with Kanata, Rico, and Lecty realizing that they will need to carry on fighting for the academy, against the looming threat of the powerful dragon.
