The Dead Files is a paranormal reality television series that features a medium, Amy Allan, and a retired NYPD homicide detective, Steve DiSchiavi, as they investigate haunted locations across America. In each episode, Amy and Steve separately explore the location and gather information about the paranormal activity. They then come together to compare their findings and present their conclusions to the property owners.
In season 4 episode 9, titled Death Valley, Amy and Steve travel to a historic hotel in Tonopah, Nevada. The Mizpah Hotel was built in 1907 and has a dark and violent past. Many people have died on the property, including miners during the gold rush and guests who have committed suicide or fallen victim to foul play. The hotel has since been renovated and reopened, but the past haunting still lingers.
Amy begins her investigation in the basement of the hotel, which was once used as a morgue. She senses the spirit of a small boy who died of pneumonia and is still trapped in the basement. She also picks up on the residual energy from the many bodies that were stored there. As Amy moves throughout the hotel, she encounters numerous other spirits, including a miner who fell to his death in the elevator shaft and a prostitute who was murdered in one of the rooms.
Meanwhile, Steve investigates the history of the hotel and the surrounding area. He uncovers a grisly serial killer known as the "Tonopah Terror," who terrorized the area in the early 1900s. He also discovers that the hotel was used as a brothel and casino during its early days. Many men lost all their money and took their own lives in the hotel. Steve's research suggests that the hotel is haunted by both residual energy and intelligent spirits.
After comparing their findings, Amy and Steve reveal their conclusions to the hotel's owners. They believe that the Mizpah Hotel is haunted by the spirits of many who died tragically on the property. The energy is both residual and intelligent, meaning that some spirits are trapped in their own loops of time and some are aware of their surroundings. They recommend that the hotel undergo a cleansing and that the owners work with a paranormal team to continue investigating the hauntings.
Overall, season 4 episode 9 of The Dead Files offers a spine-chilling investigation of a haunted hotel with a dark past. Amy and Steve's insights provide viewers with a glimpse into the paranormal world and offer helpful recommendations for addressing hauntings.
