Ep 1. Surprised to be Dead

In the first episode of Yu Yu Hakusho, titled "Surprised to be Dead," we are introduced to the main character, 14-year-old delinquent Yusuke Urameshi. Yusuke is not a good student and is known for his rough exterior and bad attitude. However, despite his flaws, Yusuke has a good heart, as we quickly see when he saves a child from a car accident and sacrifices his own life in the process.

After his death, Yusuke meets Botan, a guide to the afterlife, who informs him that his death was not part of his fate and he was not supposed to die. Botan tells Yusuke that he has a chance to come back to life if he can pass a series of tests and prove that he is still capable of doing good in the world.

In order to prove himself, Yusuke must return to the world of the living and find his way back to his body, which has been taken over by a demon. Yusuke is assisted by two of his classmates, Kuwabara and Keiko, who believe in his abilities and want to help him in any way they can.

As Yusuke navigates the world of the living from his new ghostly form, he quickly realizes that things are not exactly as they seem. There are other supernatural beings and demons that exist in the world, and some of them are not friendly towards humans. Yusuke also discovers that there is a tournament called the Dark Tournament, where humans and supernatural beings battle it out for dominance.

The episode ends on a cliffhanger, with Yusuke and Kuwabara encountering a powerful demon who has been tasked with preventing Yusuke from completing his tests and returning to the realm of the living. Yusuke's fate hangs in the balance as he faces off against this formidable foe, and the audience is left eagerly anticipating the next episode.
