In Yum and Yummer season 3 episode 11, titled "Childhood Favorites", the host, Eddie Jackson, explores the meals that remind us of our childhood. In this episode, Eddie takes us on a nostalgic journey through some of the classic dishes that bring us comfort and, most importantly, memories of our past.

Eddie starts the show with one of the most iconic childhood favorites, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. However, instead of the traditional sandwich, Eddie visits a local bakery who specializes in peanut butter and jelly cupcakes. Chef Carlyle Rogers of The Pastry Studio takes this classic lunchtime staple to a whole new level by incorporating homemade raspberry jam, creamy peanut butter, and tasty cupcake batter. Eddie can't resist trying one and takes a big bite, exclaiming that it's like biting into a childhood memory.

Next, Eddie heads over to another classic childhood favorite, pizza. But instead of visiting your local pizzeria, Eddie decides to showcase a unique approach to this beloved dish. He visits a pizzeria in Brooklyn, where they make square pizza, better known as "Sicilian". Pizzaiolo Nino Coniglio, the owner of Williamsburg Pizza, demonstrates how to make a perfect Sicilian pizza using his grandmother's recipe. As he takes us step-by-step through adding sauce, cheese, and toppings, Eddie can't wait to try the finished product, stating that it not only tastes amazing but that it's a perfect example of a nostalgic dish that can evoke memories of family.

After indulging in some savory dishes, Eddie is ready for some sweets. He heads over to a bakery dedicated to cookies and milk, called Milk & Cookies Bakery. Here, Eddie samples some of their most innovative, yet nostalgic, cookies, including their "Samoas" and "Thin Mints", which are reminiscent of the beloved Girl Scout Cookies. Chef Tina Casaceli, Owner of Milk & Cookies Bakery, explains how she creates these cookies from scratch using only the highest quality ingredients, such as Belgian chocolate and homemade caramel. Eddie agrees, noting that these cookies transport him back to his childhood.

The next location is a food truck known for their classic hot dogs. However, Eddie is not just looking for any ordinary hot dog - he's looking for a "Chili Dog". Eddie pays a visit to the "Chili Shoppe", where they specialize in homemade chili with family recipes passed down through generations. Although the chili is the star of the show, owner Jeffery McIntosh makes sure to top it off with fresh onions, cheese, and, of course, mustard. The chili dog may be simple, but Eddie concludes that it's perfect for bringing back childhood memories.

Finally, Eddie ends his trip down memory lane with some good old-fashioned macaroni and cheese. But, he isn't satisfied with just any mac and cheese - he wants to explore different variations of it. He heads over to a farm-to-table restaurant that serves a unique twist on the classic dish, called "Poblano Mac and Cheese." Chef Teddi Wohlford, owner of Off The Beaten Path, uses roasted poblano peppers in her dish to add a smoky and savory flavor. Eddie takes a bite and raves about how creamy and cheesy it tastes, but even more so, how it reminds him of his mom's homemade mac and cheese.

In this episode of Yum and Yummer, Eddie Jackson takes us on a magical culinary journey of classical dishes. Through his travels, he showcases how these dishes elicit nostalgia and bring back fond memories of our childhood, reminding us of simpler times and good food that we can always go back to.
