"Finding Bigfoot" is a reality show depicting the activities of a group of field researchers attempting to find proof for the existence of a legendary monster. They are searching for Bigfoot, a hairy ape-like creature that is said to inhabit many parts of the world. While most scientists discount the possibility of Bigfoot's existence, three out of the four members of the group strongly believe that it does.

The cast of "Finding Bigfoot" includes Matt Moneymaker, the creator and leader of the Bigfoot Field Research Organization (BFRO). A UCLA graduate who claims to have had an encounter with Bigfoot in 1994, Moneymaker has organized many field expeditions to search for the creature. He founded the BFRO organization in hopes of proving Bigfoot's existence to the scientific community. Other cast members are the skeptical Ranae Holland, the analytical Cliff Barackman, and James "Bobo" Fay, a hardcore Bigfoot enthusiast who has been searching for the creature for decades.

Every member of the group views Bigfoot through a different paradigm. Barackman searches for tangible, physical evidence to support the argument that Bigfoot is real. Holland does not believe in Bigfoot, but still finds sighting of creature to be an interesting phenomenon. Fay is a complete believer, and claims to have witnessed the creature himself on several occasions.

The cast travels throughout the United States to interview witnesses who claim to have witnessed the creature and participate in reconstructions to help illustrate the witnesses' stories. The group searches for tree damage evidence, hair samples, and footprints. They will also imitate what they believe to be Bigfoot calls, in the hopes of attracting any creatures that may be nearby. Since they believe that the creatures are nocturnal, they conduct many nighttime investigations using night-vision cameras and other technologies.

"Finding Bigfoot" airs on Animal Planet. It is part of a recent trend of paranormal-themed reality shows. Everyone involved with the show is determined to find the truth behind the legend of Bigfoot.
