In season 2, episode 4 of Man v Food, host Adam Richman travels to San Francisco to take on some of the city's most iconic food challenges.

The episode kicks off with Adam visiting the popular restaurant, The Stinking Rose, known for their garlic-centric dishes. Adam tries their notorious 40-clove garlic chicken, which is served with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. The garlic flavor is intense, but Adam manages to finish the entire plate.

Next up, Adam visits the historic Tadich Grill, the oldest continuously running restaurant in San Francisco. Here, he tries their famous Cioppino, a seafood stew that is loaded with fresh fish and shellfish. The stew is served with a side of sourdough bread, which is a San Francisco staple. The dish is a hit with Adam, who can't get enough of the flavorful broth.

Adam then heads to King of Thai Noodle House, a small Thai restaurant in the heart of San Francisco's Tenderloin district. Here, he takes on the "Spicy Challenge," where he has to eat a plate of ultra-spicy Pad Thai in under 30 minutes. The dish is so spicy that Adam breaks out into a sweat and needs multiple glasses of water. But he powers through and manages to finish the challenge, earning himself a spot on the restaurant's wall of fame.

Next, Adam heads to the Mission district to try the famous Mission-style burrito at La Taqueria. The burrito is loaded with rice, beans, meat, and guacamole, and is nearly the size of Adam's head. He struggles to finish the burrito, but manages to power through and declares it one of the best burritos he's ever had.

For dessert, Adam visits Mitchell's Ice Cream, a family-owned ice cream parlor that has been serving San Francisco since 1953. He tries their famous "50/50" ice cream, which is half chocolate and half coconut, and is blown away by the rich, creamy flavor.

Finally, Adam visits the historic Buena Vista Cafe, which is famous for its Irish coffee. He gets a lesson in how to make the perfect Irish coffee, which involves adding a shot of whiskey to hot coffee, and topping it off with whipped cream. Adam enjoys his coffee while taking in the stunning views of the San Francisco Bay.
