Running in Heels is a reality television series about three young women working as interns for the fashion magazine Marie Claire. Ashley, Samantha, and Talita are three young women who are eager to make in the competitive New York publishing industry. As exciting it is to work for a fashion magazine, the girls spend a lot of time doing mundane errands required of typical office drones. They run errands and answer phones.

The three girls all have vastly different personalities that come out as they work at Marie Claire. Ashley moans and complains a lot. She feels as if she is too good for a lot of the duties her boss asks her to do. Samantha tends to roll her eyes at many of her job duties, but she still gets it all done. Only Talita seems to have the personality necessary to make it in the business. She is a hard worker and focuses on getting things done with as little drama as possible, but she is sneaky as well. One episode has the others girls suspecting that she cheated on doing fashion layout, copying designs from someone else.

The girls don't always get along with each other either. Competitive is incredibly high and the girls are fighting for a potential job that may be available to only one of them.

Of course, some of the interns' projects are exciting and have the taste of glamour to them. One of the girls is able to go along on an interview of famous designer Roberto Cavalli. Another girl gets to help out on a cover shoot of singer Mandy Moore. The girls even sometimes get access to couture of their own and are given free samples by designers. They also get to accompany their bosses on fashion week events in New York and London, keeping themselves busy and getting to meet and mingle with the biggest names in fashion. Throughout it all, the girls keep their hopes and dreams for a career in the fashion world alive.
