Around The World in 80 Plates is a reality cooking competition. It features 12 different chefs who compete in 10 different countries. In each episode, a chef is eliminated. At the end of the series, only one chef remains as the winner. Around The World in 80 Plates stands out from other cooking shows because the contestants explore different cuisines that they may not have cooked before. In one episode, the chefs go to Thailand. They have to find and grate coconuts and also help plant rice in a traditional style rice paddy. For the competition part of the show, they break into two teams to run a Thai street food cart to see which team can cook and sell the most food. In this way, the chefs are forced out of their comfort zones so that their true talents can shine.
