In season 4, episode 10 of Cold Case Files, titled "The Bitemark/Justice for Eglena," viewers are taken on a journey through the investigation of the brutal rape and murder of 81-year-old Eglena Diaz in her Miami home in 1985. The case went cold for over a decade until a suspected serial rapist and murderer, Eddie Lee Mosley, was finally caught in 1987.

The episode opens with a brief overview of the initial investigation into Diaz's murder. Her body was found in a pool of blood with multiple bite marks on her body, including a distinctive bite mark on her breast. Despite collecting DNA evidence, the case went unsolved for 12 years.

In 1997, the Miami-Dade Police Department started a review of cold cases and began to reexamine the evidence collected from Diaz's murder. Advances in DNA technology allowed investigators to finally match DNA found at the crime scene to Eddie Lee Mosley, who was already in prison for other murders.

However, Mosley had been previously acquitted of Diaz's murder due to a lack of physical evidence. The only evidence tying Mosley to the crime was the DNA match, which prompted the police department to reopen the case and build a new case against Mosley.

The episode follows the detectives assigned to the case as they review the evidence and gather new testimony from witnesses. They also bring in a forensic dentist to reexamine the bite mark on Diaz's breast. The forensic dentist explains how they can use bite mark analysis to match bite marks to a specific individual.

Through a combination of DNA evidence and bite mark analysis, the prosecution is finally able to build a solid case against Mosley. In 2001, he is found guilty of Diaz's murder and sentenced to life in prison.

The second half of the episode shifts to another case that was finally solved through advancements in forensic science. In 1987, a woman was raped and beaten in her Florida home. Despite a partial fingerprint found at the scene, the case went unsolved for over 13 years.

In 2000, the case was reopened and the partial fingerprint was sent to a new lab that was equipped with state-of-the-art fingerprint analysis technology. Using this technology, the lab was able to analyze the partial print and match it to a man named John Earl Peoples, who had a prior arrest for petty theft.

Peoples was brought in for questioning and eventually confessed to the rape and beating. He was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison.

Overall, this episode of Cold Case Files takes viewers on a journey through the advancements in forensic science and how these advancements allowed detectives to solve two cases that had gone cold for many years. Through DNA analysis, bite mark analysis, and fingerprint analysis, both Eddie Lee Mosley and John Earl Peoples were finally brought to justice.
