Ep 13. A Brother's Burden/The Midnight Attacker

In the Cold Case Files season 4 episode 13, titled A Brother's Burden/The Midnight Attacker, two separate cases are investigated by law enforcement in hopes of bringing justice to the victims.

The first case, A Brother's Burden, follows the brutal murder of 19-year-old Jeffrey Trunell, who was fatally shot in his bedroom in 1996. With little evidence to go on, detectives struggled to piece together the events that led up to Jeffrey's murder. However, through diligent investigative work and with the help of DNA evidence, authorities were finally able to bring the killer to justice over a decade later.

The second case, The Midnight Attacker, takes place in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1987. After a string of sexual assaults, authorities were on the hunt for a serial rapist who struck in the dead of night. With little evidence to go on, the case went cold and the attacker continued to terrorize the community. But in 1991, when the DNA evidence was introduced, authorities were finally able to track down the attacker and bring him to justice.

Throughout both cases, viewers are taken on a journey through the investigative process, learning about the various tactics and technologies used to solve the crimes. Through interviews with law enforcement officials and key witnesses alike, audiences gain a more in-depth perspective of the impact these crimes had on the community and the lengths that authorities go to in order to bring closure to the victims' families.

The episode ends with a sense of justice being served and serves as a reminder that, while cold cases may be challenging, there is still hope for resolution and closure for victims of unsolved crimes.
