In the fifth episode of season 11 of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," host Guy Fieri explores restaurants with unique and creative twists on classic dishes. In "A Little Twisted," viewers are taken on a culinary journey to four different eateries across the United States, each offering their own distinctive and delicious take on traditional favorites.
The first stop is in Portland, Oregon, at a restaurant called Pine State Biscuits. Known for their enormous, flaky biscuits and homemade gravy, Pine State Biscuits takes the classic Southern breakfast dish to the next level. Guy meets with owner Kevin Atchley to learn about the history of the restaurant and the inspiration behind their inventive creations. He tries their signature dish, "The Reggie," which features a fried chicken breast, bacon and cheese, sandwiched between two buttery biscuits and smothered in gravy.
Next, Guy heads to Chicago, Illinois, to visit The Butcher's Tap. This old-school butcher shop-turned-burger joint offers more than just your typical burger toppings. Guy speaks with owner Ken Seidl to learn about their unique ingredient combinations, such as the "PB&J Burger" topped with peanut butter, bacon, and raspberry jam. He also tries their "Peanut Butter Explosion," a deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich served with a side of vanilla dipping sauce.
The third stop is in Denver, Colorado, at a restaurant called Steuben's. Steuben's serves up American comfort food with a twist, and Guy meets with owner Josh Wolkon to learn about the inspiration behind their menu. Guy tries their "Lobster Roll," a New England classic with a Colorado twist, featuring a crispy lobster tail, avocado, and chipotle mayo. He also samples their "Green Chili Cheeseburger," a juicy burger topped with green chili and melted cheese.
The final stop on the "A Little Twisted" episode is in San Diego, California, at a restaurant called S&M Sausage and Meat. Known for their creative sausage combinations and homemade condiments, S&M Sausage and Meat offers a unique twist on the traditional hotdog. Guy speaks with owners Scott Slater and Hanis Cavin to learn about their passion for sausage-making and tries their "Bulgogi Sausage," a Korean-inspired sausage topped with pickled vegetables and gochujang mayo. He also samples their "Meatloaf Sandwich," made with a blend of beef and spicy chorizo and topped with crispy onions and a tangy bbq sauce.
Throughout the episode, viewers get a glimpse into the kitchens of each restaurant and the creative processes behind their inventive dishes. "A Little Twisted" is a celebration of the culinary ingenuity and unique flavors that make each of these diners, drive-ins, and dives a must-visit for food lovers.
