The first stop is in San Francisco, where Guy goes to Grubstake Diner, a classic diner that serves up breakfast all day. They use locally-sourced ingredients to create their dishes from scratch, like the Carolina Pirlau, an old-fashioned Southern dish made with rice and seafood. Guy is amazed by their Country Fried Steak and Eggs, which are a unique blend of Southern and Italian flavors. He also tries their famous Shrimp Po' Boy and the Chicken Liver Pate, which is made with bacon and sherry.
The last stop is in Kentucky, where Guy visits Mussel & Burger Bar, a restaurant that specializes in burgers and mussel dishes. Chef Fernando Martinez shares his passion for creating unique flavor combinations, and Guy gets to try the one-of-a-kind Lamb Burger with Feta Cheese and Mint Jelly. Fernando also shows Guy how to make their famous Truffle Fries, which are hand-cut and made with real truffle oil and truffle salt. They also make the Roasted Garlic Aioli from scratch. Guy also tries the Mussels with Bacon and Blue Cheese, a dish that features Kentucky bourbon.
