In the 13th episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives season 27, host Guy Fieri embarks on a Flavor Adventure across the United States, sampling unique and delicious dishes from different states.
First up, Guy visits a diner in Arizona, where they serve up a spicy chorizo burger with avocado spread and a side of sweet potato fries with honey chipotle dip. Next, he travels to a seafood joint in Maine, where he tries the lobster mac and cheese, a dish that takes comfort food to a whole new level.
Heading south to Texas, Guy visits a barbecue joint that serves up brisket slow-cooked over mesquite, accompanied by tangy coleslaw and sweet baked beans. Then it's off to Louisiana, where he samples some authentic Cajun cuisine, including gumbo, jambalaya, and fried catfish with all the fixings.
No Flavor Adventure would be complete without a trip to the Midwest, where Guy visits a family-owned diner in Iowa that's been serving up homemade pies and classic American dishes since the 1950s. He tries their famous pork tenderloin sandwich, which is the size of a dinner plate and comes with onion rings and fries.
Next, Guy heads to New York City, where he samples a unique take on pizza at a pizzeria that uses honey in their dough and tops their pies with unusual ingredients like smoked salmon and fig jam. Finally, he travels to California, where he visits a Mexican restaurant that specializes in mole, a traditional sauce made from more than 20 ingredients, including chiles, chocolate, and spices.
Throughout the Flavor Adventure, Guy meets the chefs and owners behind these amazing dishes, learning about their culinary backgrounds and the inspirations behind their menus. With each bite, he discovers new and exciting flavors that make him fall in love with food all over again.
