The Doodlebops follows the adventures of DeeDee Doodle, Rooney Doodle, and Moe Doodle, three siblings that form a rock band and use friendship, kindness, and cooperation to work through their problems and always do the right thing. The Doodlebops features brightly colored costumes and catchy songs and is aimed at preschoolers. Parents will find something to love, too, since every show focuses on a moral dilemma or question which is solved in a way small children can understand and relate to. DeeDee Doodle, played by Lisa J. Lennox, loves to tell jokes and is the only girl of the three. She plays the keytar and piano. Rooney Doodle, played by Chad McNamara, plays the guitar and acts as the "big brother" of the group. Moe Doodle, played by Jonathon Wexler, plays the drums and is the most easygoing of the three. He often teases his brother and sister. Minor characters on the show include Bus Driver Bob who drives the Doodlebops to their shows and around town. Jazzmin is the band manager who brings a little magic to the show- she can disappear by snapping her fingers. There are several things that happen regularly in every show. This allows children to understand what is about to happen and participate. In each show, DeeDee and Rooney will have to find Moe, who always finds creative hiding spots. All three siblings will recite the Doodlebop pledge while waving a Doodlebop flag. Lastly, a rope falls from the ceiling. Moe always pulls the rope and is subsequently covered in water despite DeeDee and Rooney warning him against it. The show features singing performances in two ways. Firstly, performances are integrated into the story line of the show, and secondly the show usually ends with taped performances from their live rock shows. Each of the three siblings are given the opportunity to perform lead vocals for songs relating to their own personal story lines although DeeDee usually performs lead vocals through out the shows.
