Illyasviel von Einzbern is an ordinary elementary school student who lives with her older brother Shirou Emiya and their adoptive father Kiritsugu Emiya. One day, Illya encounters a magical wand named Magical Ruby and is asked to become a magical girl. Despite initially refusing the offer, Illya eventually agrees after being attacked by a mysterious figure.
Illya and her friend Miyu Edelfelt transform into magical girls and defeat the mysterious figure with ease. Back at home, Illya learns that Shirou and Kiritsugu were also involved in a war known as the Holy Grail War that took place ten years ago. Illya is hesitant to become a magical girl, but Miyu convinces her otherwise and the two set out on their first mission.
Illya and Miyu encounter a group of girls who also possess magical wands and are in search of the Class Cards, powerful magical devices that hold the essence of heroic spirits. The girls are from an organization named the Clock Tower, and they explain that the Class Cards have gone missing and need to be retrieved to prevent a potential disaster.
Illya and Miyu team up with the Clock Tower girls and begin their search for the Class Cards. They encounter their first Class Card, the Archer card, which is being guarded by a powerful spirit. Illya and Miyu struggle to defeat the spirit, but with the help of magical chants and teamwork, they manage to obtain the Archer card.
The Clock Tower girls explain that there are a total of seven Class Cards and that they must retrieve them all before it's too late. Illya and Miyu agree to help and the search for the next Class Card begins.
Overall, the first episode of Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA ILLYA sets up the premise of the show. It introduces Illya and Miyu as well as the magical world they inhabit. The episode also hints at a larger plot involving the Class Cards and the potential danger if they are not found. The episode is full of action, humor, and hints of darker themes to come.
