Makoto's Future is the eleventh episode of season one of Gingitsune: Messenger Fox of the Gods. As the name suggests, the episode primarily focuses on Makoto, the protagonist of the series, and her future.

The episode starts with Makoto trying to convince her father to allow her to go on a school trip to Kyoto. However, her father remains apprehensive because of Makoto's responsibility towards the Inari shrine and its messenger fox, Gintaro. Makoto assures him that she will come back on time and requests Gintaro to accompany her and keep her out of trouble. Though initially reluctant, Gintaro agrees to go with Makoto after she cleverly uses flattery to change his mind.

In Kyoto, Makoto visits the famous Fushimi Inari Shrine, which she has always wanted to see. While exploring the shrine, Makoto becomes lost and accidentally enters a part of the shrine that is out of bounds for visitors. She is told by a monk that she can only leave that area after writing her name and wish on a piece of paper and hanging it on a sacred tree. Makoto writes her wish to remain friends with Gintaro forever. She then meets a mysterious girl who warns her that if she does not fulfill her wish, she might never see Gintaro again.

Later, Makoto and Gintaro visit other famous sights of Kyoto, including the Kiyomizu Temple and the Gion district. During their visit, Gintaro senses the presence of a powerful spiritual energy nearby. He investigates and discovers an ancient sword, which he believes is a sacred artifact of Inari, hidden inside a temple. The sword, however, is stolen by a group of thieves who plan to sell it to the highest bidder.

Makoto and Gintaro decide to retrieve the sword as they believe it is their duty as messengers of the gods. They track down the thieves and retrieve the sword after a thrilling chase through the streets of Kyoto. In the end, Makoto and Gintaro return to the Inari shrine safely, and their adventure strengthens their bond.

The episode also explores the relationship between Makoto and her childhood friend, Hiwako. Hiwako is envious of Makoto's ability to see and communicate with Gintaro and other spiritual beings. She feels left out and believes that Makoto is growing apart from her. This causes a rift between them, which is resolved only after Makoto proves that she values her friendship with Hiwako above anything else, including her ability to communicate with the spirits.

Overall, Makoto's Future is an exciting and emotional episode that explores the importance of friendship, duty, and faith in oneself. The episode also highlights the beauty and culture of Kyoto, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan.
