After years of attempting to remain a concealed mystery to individuals outside their congregation, the Greenleafs are compelled to confront reality regarding their heritage and family legacy in the most recent episode of "Greenleaf" season 1 episode 8, named "The Whole Book".

The episode commences with Kevin, Grace's husband, attempting to talk her into returning to church following the previous week's tragic occurrence. When Grace clenches that she cannot tolerate being in a similar space as Mac any longer, Kevin balances the blame on the whole family, prompting her to change her perspective. Meanwhile, Bishop and Lady Mae are hosting H&H, a book publishing firm, and are keen on collaborating with them for their upcoming book. H&H views their religious sect as an untapped publishing market, and Lady Mae thinks Bishop's book would be the perfect starting point.

In their zeal to impress H&H, the Greenleaf family attempts to ensure that their patriarch has given them the right to release the book with painstaking duties to adhering to every detail. However, it turns out that Bishop didn't precisely sign it, setting off a chain of events.

Furthermore, for the very first time, we see Lady Mae interact with her brother, Mac, openly and honestly, and the result is a lively string of monologues which will undoubtedly leave you at the edge of your seat, anticipating her next move.

Meanwhile, skipping church, as usual, Rochelle chooses to attend a contemporary worship service, where she endures a full-scale invitation to the front of the sanctuary, further exposing her deceitful intentions to Grace. By Sunday's conclusion, the events that have surfaced will likely change the Greenleaf's legacy considerably.

From Grace's powerful anonymous blog, which left a lot of people wondering, to the debate surrounding Bishop's paternity and sins committed by family members, the Greenleafs would have preferred to keep their secrets hidden. Still, they are slowly being exposed. In the recent episode, with H&H's publishing company's eagerness, the family makes significant strides towards having their long-anticipated book published. This introductory move was a win, but not without some drama since the family realizes that Bishop did not sign the publishing agreement.

By seeking to resolve this mishap, Bishop and Lady Mae make a startling disclosure that can change the Greenleafs' future, forcing the family to a crossroads, questioning, "Are they prepared to accept that which they've been keeping a secret for so long?" In addition, by seeking advice from other families who have borne the burden of exposing a closely-held family secret, the Greenleafs will be pushed to re-examine themselves, their faith, and their relationship to one another.

Furthermore, throughout the episode, we are shown how the Greenleaf family handles their contrasting views on faith. With morals both opposing and at the same time complementing each other, one sibling emphasizes the importance of following along with and adhering to each scripture, while the other reveals a more refreshing and revolutionary move against organized religion, rooting for the love of and seeking truth in God beyond conventional boundaries.

In conclusion, the eighth episode of Greenleaf season one reveals a lot about the Greenleaf family's past and leaves a clear impression about its forthcoming changes. The Greenleaf's legacy is significantly altered, and several secrets are exposed. The episode is loaded with enticing, nail-biting, and suspenseful moments. Even more, the demonstrations and conflicts between the two factions of faith offer even more excellent insight into the family's dynamic. "The Whole Book" is an exciting and fascinating episode that showcases the well-written storyline, with uncanny hair-raising revelations.
