Hellsing OVA Season 1 Episode 1 The Undead
- October 4, 2003
Seras Victoria, a young police officer, faces off against a group of ghouls in the streets of London. Despite her best efforts, she is mortally wounded in the battle. Before she dies, she is rescued by Alucard, a mysterious and powerful vampire who serves the Hellsing Organization.
Seras wakes up in the Hellsing Mansion, where she learns that she has been turned into a vampire by Alucard. At first, she is horrified by her new existence, but she soon realizes that she can use her new powers to protect innocent people from the supernatural threats that lurk in the shadows.
Meanwhile, the Hellsing Organization is called to investigate a series of brutal murders that have occurred in a small village. The victims appear to have been torn apart by some kind of creature with supernatural strength. Integra Hellsing, the head of the organization, suspects that the murders are the work of vampires, and orders Alucard and Seras to investigate.
As they arrive in the village, they are confronted by a group of ghouls, which Alucard dispatches with ease. They then meet the village priest, who tells them that the murders are the work of a powerful vampire named Bubbancy. He explains that Bubbancy was once a vampire hunter, but he became a vampire himself after being bitten by one of his own targets.
Alucard, intrigued by Bubbancy's story, decides to seek him out. He and Seras find the vampire holed up in an abandoned church, where he reveals that he has been killing humans because he is disgusted by his own existence as a vampire.
Alucard, however, has little sympathy for Bubbancy, and the two engage in a brutal battle. Bubbancy proves to be a formidable opponent, but Alucard ultimately emerges victorious. He then proceeds to turn Bubbancy into his servant, forcing him to serve the Hellsing Organization.
As the episode ends, Seras reflects on her new life as a vampire and wonders what the future holds for her. Meanwhile, Alucard and Integra discuss the growing threat of vampire activity in Europe, and begin to formulate a plan to stop it.
Overall, "The Undead" is a dark and atmospheric episode that sets the stage for the rest of the series. The animation is top-notch, and the voice acting is superb, particularly from Crispin Freeman as Alucard. Fans of vampire fiction will definitely want to give this series a try.
