"Hetalia: World Series" is an anime series, based on the popular "Hetalia: Axis Powers" webcomic. Basically, both serve as an extended allegory and metaphor of the political and historical events that surrounded World War II, and its aftermath. Characters are named after countries, with personalities based on the cliche national character of these nations. "Hetalia: World Series" focuses on the adventures of Italy, played by Daisuke Namikawa, a once powerful man, who has become a coward. His friends, Japan and Germany, try to help get him through his personal crisis, but it is uncertain whether or not they will succeed. These three friends run into a series of problems with other characters and must fight to succeed. Other characters involved in the conflict include Belgium, America, France, the United Kingdom, Russia, and even China. Highly renowned voice actors, such as Hiroki Takahashi as Japan, Hiroki Yasumoto, and Eriko Nakamura as Belgium, round out a high quality cast. They really dig into the material, and find the heart of the story.
