- September 18, 2018
And the Hot Bench Peace Prize Goes to ...; Mold, Termites, and a Sneaky Teenager?! is the twelfth episode of the fifth season of the popular courtroom show, Hot Bench. In this episode, Judge Tanya Acker presides over the case accompanied by Judges Patricia DiMango and Michael Corriero.
The first case that comes before the judges deals with a dispute between two neighbors. The plaintiff, who is a retiree and a veteran, claims that his neighbor's dog constantly barks and disturbs his peace. He states that he has requested his neighbor to make sure his dog is quiet, but the neighbor hasn't taken any action. The defendant denies the accusations and mentions that his dog does not bark often, and when it does, it's for a good reason. The judges listen to both sides and determine if the defendant is responsible for creating a disturbance.
The second case deals with a property dispute. The plaintiff claims that the defendant rented him a house with a severe mold problem, which has caused him to develop serious health issues like asthma and allergies. He also claims that the defendant failed to inform him about the termite infestation in the house. The defendant, on the other hand, argues that the mold and termite problems didn't exist when he rented out the house and that it's the plaintiff's responsibility to keep the place clean and maintained. The judges weigh the evidence and must determine whether or not the defendant acted responsibly in renting out the property.
In another case, the plaintiff claims that his teenage daughter damaged his car in an accident while driving without his permission. He is suing the defendant, who is his daughter's friend and was in the car at the time of the accident. The defendant argues that the plaintiff's daughter told her she had permission to drive the car and that the accident was not her fault. The judges listen to both sides and must determine who is responsible for the damages caused in the accident.
As always, the judges make intelligent and thought-provoking inquiries, asking the litigants the hard questions, and analyzing the evidence to come up with a sound judgment in each case. The Hot Bench team sets a great example with their professionalism and clear thinking even when the cases at hand aren't cut and dry. Each case ultimately boils down to who is trustworthy based on inadequate information, and how our judges navigate it is truly remarkable.
And the Hot Bench Peace Prize Goes to ...; Mold, Termites, and a Sneaky Teenager?! is guaranteed to keep audiences engaged and on the edge of their seats thanks to its subject matter, the judges' insights, and their dedication to delivering justice. Fans of the show and newcomers alike won't be disappointed by this episode of Hot Bench.
