Hot Bench Season 8 Episode 27 A Couch and a Loan
- October 25, 2021
In season 8, episode 27 of Hot Bench, titled "A Couch and a Loan," Judge Patricia DiMango and Judges Tanya Acker and Michael Corriero preside over three cases.
In the first case, a woman claims that her ex-boyfriend's dog destroyed her couch, and she is seeking reimbursement for the value of the couch. The woman states that her ex-boyfriend had promised to train his dog and keep it off the couch, but failed to do so. However, the ex-boyfriend argues that he never made such a promise and that the woman was aware that his dog had destructive tendencies.
In the second case, a mother and son are being sued by a family friend who claims that they failed to repay a loan of $10,000. The plaintiff alleges that the mother and son requested the loan to purchase a car but then used the money for other purposes. The mother and son contend that they did use the money to purchase a car and made payments to the plaintiff, but that the plaintiff failed to provide them with documentation of the loan.
Lastly, in the third case, a woman is suing her former roommate for unpaid rent and damages. The plaintiff rented a room to the defendant for several months, but claims that the defendant failed to pay rent on time and caused damage to the apartment. The defendant, on the other hand, argues that the rent was too high for the condition of the apartment and that she had already paid for the damages she caused.
Throughout the episodes, the judges listen to the arguments from each side, ask clarifying questions, and weigh the evidence presented. They ultimately render judgements in each case based on the facts and the applicable laws.
