Jem and the Holograms is an action adventure series that uses music to entertain the audience while centering on various moral themes such as honesty, trust, friendship and loyalty. The show is about a female character named Jerrica Benton who takes over the music company left to her by her father. Along with the company, her father also left a holographic synthesizer named synergy.

Jerrica uses synergy to create an alter ego for herself named Jem. She starts the music group Jem and the Holograms, which is made up of her sister Kimber and her two foster sisters, who all grew up together. The series' many adventures revolve mainly around her struggle to hold on to the company her father left her in spite of the desires of her ex partner and other rival bands. Jem and the Holograms is family oriented and promotes many unspoken concepts like perseverance and female empowerment.
