Sara is the fifth episode of the first season of the documentary television series Intervention. The show was created by Sam Mettler and premiered on the A&E network on March 6th, 2005. The main premise of the series centers around people who are struggling with addiction and their families who organize an intervention to try and save their loved one from a downward spiral.

In this episode, we are introduced to Sara, a young woman from Boston who is addicted to crack cocaine. Her drug use has taken a toll on her body, causing her to lose her teeth and become severely malnourished. Sara's mother, siblings, and cousin are all on hand to participate in the intervention, which is led by expert Jeff Van Vollmen.

Throughout the episode, we witness the devastating effects of addiction on not only Sara but also her family members. Sara's sister tearfully recounts how the addiction has caused her family to drift apart, and her mother expresses her fears that her daughter may not make it through the ordeal alive.

To make matters worse, Sara is also suffering from mental health issues, which her drug use has only exacerbated. Her cousin talks about how Sara often experiences intense paranoia and delusions, sometimes even believing that someone is hiding under her bed.

As with most episodes of Intervention, the intervention itself is a powerful and emotionally charged scene. Sara's family members take turns sharing their thoughts and feelings, expressing their love for her and explaining how her addiction has affected them. Sara's response is both heartbreaking and frustrating, as she alternates between denial and defiance, refusing to acknowledge the severity of her situation.

However, despite Sara's initial resistance, the intervention does ultimately have an impact. With the help of the intervention team, Sara is able to check into a rehabilitation center and begin the long road to recovery.

The episode ends with a follow-up several months after the intervention, where we see Sara looking healthier and happier than before. She talks about how much she has learned about herself and her addiction, expressing gratitude for her family's love and support throughout her journey.

Overall, Sara is a powerful and moving episode of Intervention, highlighting the devastating impact of addiction on individuals and families alike, while also showing the power of love and support to help those struggling with addiction to overcome their demons.
